Be a part of our story, in the heart of the tamar valley
“I have always had a yearning for doing something agricultural. I am a keen gardener and love seeing all things grow, from each seasons vegie garden produce to the beautiful oak trees that I planted over thirty years ago.
Viticulture was the perfect answer for me and came at a time in the late 80’s when the industry in Tasmania was still at it’s relative infancy. With only a small parcel of land, blessed with stunning views of the Tamar River in Northern Tasmania, I planted a small boutique vineyard in 1989. After considerable research into suitable clones for making French styled cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, I hand planted approximately 6000 vines in a little under two hectares.
Since then, the journey for Hinton Bay wines has been one of continual fine tuning, coupled with an uncompromising pursuit of excellence. We have endeavoured to implement every best practise in our operations from the vineyard to the tasting glass. Our hand crafted wines are a product of only estate born fruit which has been dry grown from close planted vines. Over the years we have evolved our blend of French oak treatments to enhance the rich complexity of our wines.
We hope you will enjoy the product of our passion.”
